Meet Carolyn
With over 40 years of experience, Carolyn Cuttler is the “go-to” college counselor. She has helped hundreds of families navigate the college admissions process.
Carolyn began her career as a Business Education Teacher at Long Beach High School before becoming a Professor of Business at SUNY Farmingdale, where she earned a “Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.” In 1995, Carolyn returned to Long Beach High School and joined their counseling staff. With professionalism, expertise, and dynamic warmth and care she quickly rose to the rank of Director of Guidance K-12 for the Long Beach School District.
Carolyn retired from the educational system in 2011 and continues her passion for helping others through Cuttler College Consulting. Carolyn is an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Counselor Education for Alfred University and serves as the College Counselor to The Medical Scholars Pipeline Program (MSPP) at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University/Northwell.
Carolyn regularly tours college campuses and meets frequently with admissions officers. Visiting as many as 15 campuses in a year helps her understand the culture, student body, and intangible “feel” of each campus. She remains current with the latest admissions trends and college news by attending conferences regularly, networking with other professionals, and reading widely.
An avid knitter, gardener, book club enthusiast, and cook, Carolyn resides in Lido Beach, NY, with her husband Henry. They’ve raised three sons who graduated from Northwestern University, Boston College and the University of Perth, Western Australia, and the University of Virginia.
Meet Jeff
Jeff is Carolyn’s eldest son. He has partnered with her since 2011 and is Cuttler College Consulting’s essay specialist. He loves bringing authenticity to the essay process, working with students to bring their unique voice to each of their applications. Jeff’s process is collaborative, student-driven, and creative; he works with his students to ensure their essays are specific and, “reveal the texture of who they are,” to the admissions panel.
He previously pursued a career as an actor, before working in television and film production, and enjoys bringing a, “think outside the box,” approach to the college planning process. Jeff holds a BA in Communications from Northwestern University, where he majored in Theatre and English, and he is currently completing his College Counseling Certificate at UCLA.
